ANIMAL FORTEANA

In the beginning of things men were animals and animals men. ~ Algonquin saying

"For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much — the wheel, New York, wars and so on — whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man — for precisely the same reasons." ~ The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Oregon Cows Are Tough - Black Bear Loses

I didn't know bears would attack cows -- this bear looks pretty young. Odd item from Eastern Oregon, by way of Rense.com:

Oregon Cows Are Tough - Black Bear Loses: A couple of evenings ago, an Eastern Oregon rancher went out to check his beef herd. He saw a very strange sight -- and was able to photograph an unusual battle between a black bear and some brave cows. The bear began to attack a cow and then the herd came to her aid. One cow in particular got especially aggressive and head-butted the bear right off its feet. Then, two cows sandwiched the bear between their heads. After that, the bear decided to flee and limped back into the woods.

Bigfoot Hunting Preserve - America's ONLY Bigfoot-Sasquatch Hunting

Looking for something different? Try Bigfoot Hunting Preserve - America's ONLY Bigfoot-Sasquatch Hunting

From their FAQ:

Q: What type of ammunition do I need? --A: We only use high-velocity jacketed because soft, expanding rounds were bouncing off their thick skulls leaving the Sasquatch holding his head while he runs through the woods screaming in agony.
It's a joke, a spoof, and not "real" but it just isn't funny. Sigh.

Forteania: 19th Century Chupacabras

From a favorite blog of mine, Tony Morrill's Fortenia:
Forteania: 19th Century Chupacabras: While thumbing through one    of my paranormal books the other night, I came across a familiar story. A group of sheep farmers were upset because something was attacking and killing their livestock. The creature was not, however, eating the sheep. According to witnesses, it was biting their jugulars and, apparently, draining them of blood. If this sounds familiar to you, hold your assumptions for just a second. The above the story comes not from Puerto Rico in 1995, instead Charle Fort relates the account in his book Lo! (which I of course read in The Book of the Damned) written in 1931. Fort tells readers:
In the month of May, 1810, something appeared at Ennerdale, near the border of England and Scotland, and killed sheep, not devouring them, sometimes seven or eight of them in a night, but biting into the jugular vein and sucking the blood. (Fortenia)
Fortean (and UFO) events -- just when you think they're isolated, specific to a decade or era or location, you find they are not. As Morrill and other Fortean researchers have long pointed out, these events pop up in Fortean history, upsetting our ideas about why and how such anomalous episodes occur.

(1) KRIS 6 News - Chupacabra Found Alive in South Texas?

More "jump the shark" chupacabra legend: from spiny backed bipedal red eyed creature to .. . hairless dog like (usually) animals. And the gun happy people that shoot at these animals for fear the "chupacabra" has invaded their lands. Very sad all around.
